IMPACT is an intensive self-defense program highly specialized for the needs of ALL WOMEN. Violence is not just contained to the home...violence can happen to any woman regardless....IMPACT is here!


Our classes are intentionally designed to teach participants needed verbal and physical skills to make effective personal safety choices. Through simulating realistic situations and practicing FULL-FORCE defensive tactics, women retain these skills years after completing the program. IMPACT is based on real life. Scenarios are enacted from situations that occur to women such as rape, attack, and face to face confrontation. Participants learn how to deal with any situation imaginable and to assess which strategy to use, whether that is de-escalation, boundary setting, or physical self-defense.


Is IMPACT really needed in the Bismarck-Mandan community? Absolutely.The Abused Adult Resource Center (AARC) is a Bismarck center for those who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2008, AARC helped 1,165 new victims of domestic violence in our community which is the highest total in the agency's 32-year history. The reality is that there is violence all around us; it is not just a big city problem. National statistics indicate that 1 OUT OF 3 WOMEN WILL BE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE IN THEIR LIFETIME.


We have the knowledge and passion to bring this wonderful program to the Bismarck-Mandan community, however funding is still needed for training our instructors, equipment, and supplies. Please help in supporting this program and keeping our women in the community safe.
